Stay With Us
Life on the Dune
!Xaus Lodge is not a luxury hotel. It’s something rarer. A place built for immersion, not for show.
Your Desert Sanctuary
Twelve private chalets sit along the curve of a high dune, overlooking a vast, mud-crusted salt pan. Each one faces a waterhole where animals come and go freely. From your deck, the view is pure desert. Nothing built up, nothing artificial.
The chalets are simply and thoughtfully furnished. It is comfort without excess; shelter without clutter.
Accommodation Options
Standard Desert Chalet (11 Units): Perfect for two guests, configured with either a double or twin beds.
The Family Chalet (1 Unit): A spacious unit sleeping four guests (one double bed and two single beds), ideal for families traveling together.
Note on Disconnection: There is no air-conditioning, no television, and no Wi-Fi—by design. What you’ll gain in return is deep, uninterrupted rest. No alerts. No digital noise.
In every chalet, you will find
King or Twin beds with crisp linen and warm duvets for the desert winters.
Ceiling fans for summer cooling and wide windows to catch the cross-breeze.
A dedicated writing table for journaling or sketching the landscape.
A walk-in shower with water heated by gas geysers and a separate toilet.
Solar-powered lights that glow softly, preserving the view of the stars outside.
The Rhythm of the Lodge
The central lodge is the heart of the experience—a space where guests gather to transition from the heat of the day to the stories of the night.
The Viewing Deck: The best seat in the Kgalagadi for watching the sunrise or the slow shift of colors at sunset.
The Plunge Pool: A small, refreshing escape to cool off during the midday heat.
All-Day Refreshments: A tea and coffee service is available throughout the day, featuring lodge-made rusks or crunchies for those nibbly moments.
Dining with Intention
We serve hearty, freshly prepared food, planned carefully and sourced locally wherever possible, in respect of the long journey everything takes to reach us.
The Experience: Meals are shared in the dining area, fostering a sense of community.
The Menu: Our menu is fixed and changes daily.
Dietary Needs: We are happy to accommodate dietary preferences and allergies if notified in advance of your arrival.
A Thoughtful Touch: After dinner, your housekeeper will place a room tray with hot-water flasks in your chalet for your early morning tea or coffee on the deck.
Power & Sustainability
Our footprint is light. Electricity at !Xaus is intentional and limited.
Generator Hours: To provide essential power, a generator runs for a few hours each morning, midday, and evening.
Battery Backup: Quiet solar backup provides light throughout the night.
Usage: There is enough power for comfort and charging cameras or phones, but not for high-wattage appliances (like hair dryers).
